Silvia Leoni
BSc, MSc (Università Politecnica delle Marche, Italy)
I have joined CRESS as a visiting PhD researcher from the University of Macerata, Italy. I have a background in International Economics and Business (BSc and MSc at Università Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona, Italy) and I am currently completing a PhD programme in Quantitative methods for the Economic Policy. I worked as a researcher on mobility at the University of Oulu (Finland) within the EU project GRAGE, aimed at identifying possible solutions to the challenges related to ageing population and elderly living in urban contexts.
My PhD thesis focuses on the application of an agent-based model to study the determinants behind tertiary level educational choices, in particular the choice of enrolling or not at University. I especially investigate agents interaction with family and friends and its potential result as a breeding behaviour, as well as its possible effects in the shaping of expectations on future income.
My research interests include economics of education, educational choices and school drop-out, social networks and history of economic thought.
