Naoki Shiba

Naoki Shiba is a Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management, Collage of Industrial Technology, Nihon University, Chiba JAPAN.  He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Control Engineering, his Master of Science degree and PhD in Systems Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1986, 1988, and 1993, respectively.  Before he moved to Nihon University, he worked at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corp. 1988-1990 as a researcher, and was a faculty member at Tokyo Institute of Technology 1990-2001 and at Chiba Institute of Technology 2001-2007. He was a visiting scholar in Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Ohio, from May 1999 to March 2000.  He joined Nihon University as an associate professor in 2007 and was promoted to Professor in 2010.  His areas of research interests include information systems, decision support systems, game theory, and systems theory.  In 2003, he published a jointly written monograph, “Advances of DSS (Decision Support Systems) Development-General Systems Theory Approach”, from Economics & Sciences Publisher, China.  His major research interest of recent years is in the methodology of social simulation research using agent-based models.  He is going to join CRESS at the University of Surrey for a year from August 2011 as a visiting scholar.
