Martha Bicket

Martha Bicket is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Surrey. Martha works at the interface of research and policy, working closely with senior policy-makers and analysts across local, national and international levels of government towards the goal of better-informed decision-making and policy.
She is part of the core research team at the £3-million ESRC-funded National Research Centre for Evaluating Complexity Across the Nexus (www.cecan.ac.uk) – a collaboration between academics, UK government and practitioners to generate novel, cutting-edge policy evaluation methods fit for a complex world. Martha is also one of the lead authors of a specialist supplement for the Magenta Book, the UK Government handbook on evaluation.
Her other research activity focuses on sustainable resource use and the circular economy. Martha is co-author of the 2014 European Commission scoping study on priorities for the circular economy which informed the design of the EU Circular Economy Packages. Previously based at Policy Studies Institute, Martha led PSI’s contribution to the €2-million EU Horizon 2020 project MIN-GUIDE, creating the first comprehensive EU policy guide on best practice in sustainable minerals policy.
She has a background in Mathematics (BSc) and Environmental Policy (MSc).
