Jie joined the Centre for Research in Social Simulation at the Department of Sociology in February 2016 as a Research Fellow in Computational Social Science. She obtained her Bachelor and Master Degrees both in Engineering respectively from Chang’an University and Xi’an Jiaotong University in China. She continued studying a PhD at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, researching on the problem of organisational compliance through normative multi-agent system design and verification. Upon finishing her PhD, she has been a visiting researcher at Imperial College, investigating self-organising rule-oriented multi-agent systems, and in particular studying fair and sustainable resource allocation in open systems and networks.

Her research interests include design and verification of sociotechnical systems, agent-based modelling and simulation, and data analytics and machine learning. She is particularly interested in applying computational approaches (e.g., agent simulation, data analytics) to understanding and tackling problems in sociotechnical systems.
